Piece Vlab design collection The stem of an ancient armchair in baroque style has been charred and treated with natural oil applying the procedures of the ancient Japanese technique of yakisugi. The carbonisation gives the wood its elegant graphite black colouring and improves its durability over time, making it resistant to parasites and fire. The intrusive padding of the original seat has been replaced by a more minimal rope weaving. The art of weaving is a skill that today belongs to the skilled hands of a few craftsmen.
